Many people considering teaching in Korea don’t have formal teaching credentials, or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) training. It is important for those without TESOL training to acquire some background knowledge before they begin working in Korea.

Taking a TESOL certificate course is one way to gain valuable information. However, with so many programs available and with varying levels of time and commitment required, it can be difficult to choose. To make a decision about signing up for a TESOL certificate program, you should consider the following:

  1. how long you plan to teach English overseas;
  2. what related qualifications you may already have (such as experience, or a teaching credential in another discipline);
  3. the amount you are willing, or able, to spend;
  4. and, any specific area you may want to focus on in your training (i.e. instructing young learners, or teaching reading).

Once you have answered these questions, please discuss your plans with Madeline. There are a few programs that she normally recommends (see below), and she may also be able to help you pay for the program with discount codes and other special offers. So, please contact Madeline before you sign up for any TESOL certificate program or training.
